New York City’s princes of gothy gloom have released a new track which is available from their website for free. ‘Lights’ is the long awaited first taste of their new album, which fans have been waiting for since 2007’s Our Love To Admire.
Having previously promised that their new album would be a return to the sound of their 2003 debut Turn On The Bright Lights (and no doubt seeking to recapture the critical acclaim that came with it) the band are finishing up sessions that have taken place in London and New York for the new release. In an email to fans, the band wrote “We’re stirring … We want to show you something. And make sure you come back soon. We will be posting important information and dates in the coming weeks.”
Tone Deaf reckons it sounds like a Joy Division out take/B-side with the tinny guitar sound of Wayne Hussey era Sisters of Mercy. So more of the usual from Interpol then, but based on this track we bet their record label are fretting and going ‘where are the hits?’
