An Irish DJ has been sentenced to almost seven years in prison after being caught smuggling drugs into our home that’s girt by sea.
Stephen Donnelly and his accomplice Tommy Ransley were caught last October, after a carefully orchestrated operation by police lead to the seizure of 5,000 pingas and $700,000 worth of cocaine that was smuggled inside noodle containers.
Stephen Donnelly paid a French glamour model and a Darwin local to collect the naughty noodle packages from Mt Isa, and the plan went swimmingly until their naughty noodle packaged were intercepted.
Tommy Ransley will serve six years in prison, with DJ Stephen Donnelly receiving six years and nine months. The French glamour model Sebastian Ducros will be released and deported in October this year.
Police said the syndicate transported MDMA and cocaine from the United Kingdom to Darwin and were involved in multiple importations over the past 12 months that ‘contributed significantly to the Darwin cocaine and MDMA market,’ NT News reported.
The judge who oversaw the case said that the pair “had the time the time of their life up until they’ve been caught”. ‘I totally accept I am an absolute idiot,’ Donnelly said whilst giving evidence.
