Since infamously being sacked from The Tonight Show on US TV, Conan O’Brien has been hauling his arse across the States doing theatre gigs while he waits out the six month ‘no compete’ clause in his contract. Fun fact – the multi-millionaire comedian was once a college roommate of seminal grunge precursor Galaxie 500’s front man Dean Wareham. Indeed the band started out borrowing O’Brien’s drum kit.

It all came home to roost in Memphis, Tennessee over the weekend as he played a gig at White Stripes front man Jack White’s Third Man Records HQ. One thousand fans queued up to get in to a venue with a capacity of 300, where O’Brien was joined on stage by White for storming renditions of ‘On The Road Again’, ‘Blue Moon of Kentucky’, Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ and The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’.
