Jack White has proven himself as a lover of both music and baseball recently, sneaking out of a game in Washington, D.C. to perform a gig with The Saboteurs, only to return hours later.

How often have you found yourself with conflicting plans? Maybe you had concert tickets to see your favourite band, only to discover your cousin’s birthday party was that same night? What would you do in that situation? Well, if you’re Jack White, you’d find a way to do both.

As Deadspin reports, noted sports fan and musician Jack White recently found himself at a baseball game between the Washington Nationals and the Milwaukee Brewers with his bandmates in The Saboteurs (or The Raconteurs, if you’re outside of Australia).

However, his enjoyment of the game was cut short when he had to leave the game to go play a headline show at a nearby venue. After playing a blistering 18-song set (including a six-song encore), White and his bandmates discovered the game had been tied, and therefore still going, so they took the opportunity to return to watch the thrilling finale.

While the news was broken by baseball announcer Ken Rosenthal, Deadspin also notes that the venue’s website mentions that reentry is only possible in the case of an emergency, meaning that White either did some smooth talking to be let back in, or venue staff were big fans of blues rock.

Of course, this love of baseball should come as no surprise to fans of Jack White, with the rocker previously donating money to renovate a historic Negro League stadium, investing in a baseball bat company, releasing a vinyl record alongside tickets to a Detroit Tigers game, and even getting his own baseball card.

In fact, last year even saw Jack White inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, with his own custom-made bat being inducted alongside him.

Needless to say, the next tour by Jack White might just be scheduled around baseball season.
