Jagged Little Pill, the Grammy and Tony Award-winning musical inspired by Alanis Morissette’s seminal album of the same name, is now playing at the Melbourne at the Comedy Theatre until the 13th of March.

Jagged Little Pill stars the critically acclaimed Australian performers Natalie Bassingthwaighte of Rogue Traders fame, Tim Draxl, Maggie McKenna and AYDAN as well as introducing newcomers Emily Nkomo, Liam Head and Grace Miell.

This show has been a vehicle of healing for so many of us throughout its journey and knowing we are coming [Australia’s] way is such amazing news after these intense 12 months across the world.” said Alanis Morissette.

“I can’t wait to share this blood sweat and tears musical with you…as Australia has always held a very special place in my heart.”

Jagged Little Pill is a story centered around a “perfectly imperfect” American family, striving to survive after a troubling event shakes their community. The musical leans on Morissette’s cutthroat, intelligent lyrics, to tackling pressing themes like racism, addiction, adoption, homophobia and sexual assault, but also exploring the hope and healing that happens when people come together.

Jagged Little Pill features songs from the 1995 LP of the same name, as well as other tracks from Morissette’s discography.

Written by Tony and Acadamy Award-winner Diablo Cody (Juno, Tully), with choreography by Tony Award nominee and Beyoncé collaborator Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and an onstage band under the Musical Supervision, Orchestrations and Arrangements of Grammy, Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, American Idiot), the musical has garnered widespread critical acclaim.
