While their time as a couple is well and truly up, it’s been revealed that Jake Gyllenhaal reportedly spent $165,000 (US!) just to see Taylor Swift, back in 2010.

Reports state that the actor spent 165k on hiring a private jet to fly Swift to London, who was his then-girlfriend, for 24 hours.

“Jake wanted some quality time with Taylor. If he hadn’t done this, they would have missed each other as he had to fly back to the States. He hired a jet which would easily have set him back $165,000,” revealed a source.

The Sun reports that stayed at the Dorchester, and that he and Swift were locked away in the room for the majority of his 24 hour visit. A Dorchester suite at the hotel costs around $8,841 per night – so, small change, really.

While their romantic relationship was never officially confirmed by Swift, the couple were photographed engaging in PDA together on numerous occasions. It seems their relationship was short-lived and that they were together for a couple of months in late 2010. Regardless of their short tenure, Swifties believe that Swift’s song ‘All Too Well,’ was written about Gyllenhaal.

News of the extravagant date have been thrown back into the headlines ahead of Taylor’s release of Red Taylor’s Version – a re-recording of her old songs mixed in with some new tracks. The album is slated for release on October 22, 2021.

“This will be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red. And hey, one of them is even 10 minutes long,” Taylor wrote on social media and added a red scarf emoji.

The use of the red scarf emoji has Swifties convinced that ‘All Too Well’ will be the ten-minute track because lyrics from the track mention a scarf. “But you keep my old scarf from that very first week ’cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me,” she sings. “You can’t get rid of it ’cause you remember it all too well.”

At the time of their rendezvous, Gyllenhaal’s wealth was estimated at $60 million, with Swift’s $20 million. Swift has since overtaken Gyllenhaal, who currently has a net worth of $80 million, while hers is estimated to be around $400 million.

In an interview with USA Today, Gwenyth Paltrow admitted to introducing Swift and Gyllenhaal.

“Well, I’m scared to say,’ she said. ‘It’s so weird. I wonder how people find out these things. It was a while ago, so I don’t know why it would come out today.”

“I’ve just known Jake for a long time and he’s a great guy,’ she said. ‘And Chris (Martin – her husband) has a friendship with Taylor.”
