Back in 2017, Tidal owner and husband of Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z, removed all of his music from several competing streaming services. Eventually, the catalogue returned to Apple Music, but it has been missing from the largest music streaming service for a while now.

At the time, Spotify only said the removal was done “at the request of the artist.” Now, the world’s most popular streaming service is tweeting out, “Happy birthday, Hov Welcome back to Spotify.”

At midnight on the rapper’s 50th birthday, he celebrated by returning his entire catalogue to the library of Spotify, and now we can all remember just how god damn good 4:44 was. Like seriously, if you’ve never listened to Jay-Z’s most recent album, you now have absolutely no excuse. Now, all we need is Joanna Newsom to return her music to Spotify and the world will achieve peace.

We have no idea what changed his mind honestly. It may have been Beyonce, it may have been one of his friends daring him to put the songs back up at his 50th birthday extravaganza, the speculation is really up in the air.

All we really know is that fans should be happy to have easy access to his hit songs once again.

In recent Jay-Z news, Stormzy has recently come out to reveal that he stopped Jay-Z from working with Ed Sheeran. Here’s what we had to say about this delicious piece of news:

“They’re some of the biggest names in music, but English grime icon Stormzy has revealed how he once stopped Jay-Z from working with Ed Sheeran.

Ask anyone to name two of the biggest musicians in the world and you’ll likely hear Ed Sheeran and Jay-Z as part of that list.

While Sheeran now has the highest-grossing tour in the world, Jay-Z recently made headlines for being the first hip-hop artist to become a billionaire. Needless to say, the idea of both of them on the same track is enough to break the world of music in two.

However, Stormzy has revealed how he prevented one of the biggest collaborations in history from occurring.”
