Fans of Jeff Buckley are set to receive a treasure trove of rare material later this month, with numerous live recordings making their way to streaming services.
Back in August of 1994, the music world bore witness to the release of Grace, the sole studio album released by Jeff Buckley in his lifetime.
While it received mixed reviews upon release, the record slowly climbed the charts, eventually going on to be cited as one of the best albums of all time.
Now, in honour of the record’s 25th anniversary, Buckley’s albums are set to see deluxe reissues on streaming services, alongside a number of special live records.

As Pitchfork notes, August 23rd will see Jeff Buckley’s Grace, posthumous 1998 album Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk, and 2000 live album Mystery White Boy reissued on streaming services, appended with additional bonus tracks and rarities.
Most excitingly though, fans will also get a chance to hear four full live albums, including Live At Wetlands, New York, NY 8/16/94, Live From Seattle, WA, 5/7/95, Cabaret Metro, Chicago, IL, 5/13/95, and 1995’s Live At Columbia Records Radio Hour performance.
Back in early 2018, Jeff Buckley’s former manager, Dave Lory, opened up about the artist’s final weeks, noting how he had exhibited “erratic” behaviour in the lead-up to the ill-fated swim that claimed his life in May of 1997.
“He was trying to buy a house that wasn’t for sale,” Lory explained. “He was trying to buy a car that wasn’t for sale. He proposed to Joan [Wasser, Buckley’s girlfriend].
“He even applied for a job to be a butterfly keeper at Memphis Zoo – a lot of weird stuff that was uncharacteristic for him. I think it was a yearning to settle down. He wanted a normal life.”
The new reissues and live albums from Jeff Buckley will hit streaming services on August 23rd.
