A tortoiseshell Epiphone acoustic guitar which Jimi Hendrix used while he lived in London from 1967 – 1970 is about to go on sale at London auction house Bonhams. Jimi Hendrix Experience band mate Noel Redding it was bought in 1967 for a knock down price of $25 in New York after their first US tour and it accompanied him back to London on the plane. It was his constant companion in the London flat he shared with his girlfriend, where he liked to play it in the bathroom for the superior acoustics and is believed to have composed many of his hits on it. He have it to a mate in 1970 and it was auctioned in 2001 for $US77,000. It’s back up for sale, this time with the considerably higher estimate of up to $US240,000.
