Jimmy Barnes’ son, television host David Campbell, has revealed he had no idea his dad had been rushed to hospital until it was posted on social media.

The television host said on Today Extra this morning that he discovered that his father had been rushed to the emergency department at St Vincent’s hospital through social media.

“He’s absolutely fine, I spoke to him last night. Although like everybody else here, I didn’t find out until it went up on Instagram. That was a sign that I knew he was OK” Campbell joked.

He continued, “He just had a stomach bug that went really really bad. They were worried about it, he went to hospital and he was out within a few hours. Thanks everybody for your messages.”

Last night, Barnesy announced over Twitter and Instagram that he had been admitted to the emergency room on Monday night by his wife, Jane.

“I spent last night in ER at St Vincent Hospital and I want to thank the amazing staff who took care of me,” the 64-year-old rocker shared. “This song (see next post) is for them and my best friend @jane13barnes who dashed me there and stayed by my side. We’ll all get by with a little help from our friends.”

Barnes later uploaded a video dedicating a rendition of ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ to the medical professionals who assisted him, as well as his wife.

“This song is for the staff at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney and my best friend @jane13barnes. We’ll all get by with a little help from our friends. Look after each other in these uncertain times,” he wrote.

Following the ‘Working Class Man’ singer announcing his health scare, Campbell assured fans at the time that his father was doing “much better”.

“Spoke to my dad,” he tweeted. “He is safe at home. Much better. Which is a relief.”
