English heavy metal rockers Judas Priest have confirmed via Twitter that they are in the studio and “giving birth to new metal babies”.

The iconic quintet has show that even with last year celebrating their 50th ceaseless year as a band that there is no stopping them anytime soon, as they are currently working on new music. While in April, they revealed that they were already tirelessly writing a new album, it has now been confirmed with a photo from Twitter posted by guitarist Richie Faulkner.

Even though they’re in the midst of writing, new material probably won’t be released this year as frontman Rob Halford admitted in an interview with WRIF: “But we’re starting work [on new material]. And like I’ve always said, it’ll be ready when it’s ready. But we’re probably moving faster than we ever did, because the clock is ticking. ”

The commencement on new music will mark their 19th album. Only two years removed from the release of Firepower, the record served as their highest charting release in the UK in the past 38 years. This news also comes a couple of months after guitarist K.K. Downing would perform with the group if they were to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

“It’s often said that funerals bring people together,” he said. “That’s not to say that getting in the Hall of Fame’s a funeral, but this could maybe have an effect that it just gives us the opportunity to get together and get on the stage and just enjoy the moment, really.”

As for impatient fans anxiously awaiting the release of a new album, it’ll still probably be a while as Judas Priest has a pretty tight schedule in store for 2020. From May to November, they will be embarking on an enormous world tour to encompass their 50th year as a band.
