A US pitcher has had a bit of a chuckle, having been accidentally identified as Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber on a baseball card.

No matter who you are, there’s a very strong chance you’ve witnessed an example of mistaken identity. Maybe you’ve seen people mix up bands like Attack Attack! and Attack! Attack!, or Dreems and Bad//Dreems? Or maybe you’ve been wrongly identified as a Canadian pop sensation?

As it turns out, the latter recently happened to the pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, who was mistakenly referred to as Justin Bieber on a baseball card.

Yes, 24-year-old Shane Bieber recently took to Twitter to share a photo of the baseball card that bears his name and image, only to point out that mid-way through the description, it refers to him by the name “Justin”.

Tagging Topps, the manufacturer of the card, on Twitter, Shane Bieber soon got a response from the company, who quoted Justin’s 2015 track by asking, “is it too late to say sorry?”

Before long though, some fans even noticed that since the error had been pointed out, the secondary market of this card had skyrocketed, seeing prices increase from $1 up to $100 on eBay.

However, this whole incident wasn’t over yet, with the real Justin Bieber even chiming in, heading to Twitter to share Shane’s Tweet and joke that, “I feel like we have a special connection.”

As the NY Daily News points out, Shane Bieber noted that he is “pretty used to” being mistaken for the pop star, even going so far as to wear uniforms on the field that specifically read “not Justin” in place of his name.
