What do you get when you throw together one of the best vocalists of K-pop and the classic Linkin Park banger ‘Numb’? A bloody great cover, let us tell you!

Kim Hongjoong, one of the members of K-pop band ATEEZ, has done just that by releasing a cover of the hugely successful songs, transforming it into a pop synth banger.

The song still has its catchy beat but has been given a modern makeover with an electronic influence. The emo side of the song remains and the tone is set at the start of the video with flashes of red lighting and black nail polish.

Hongjoong has released a set of covers of some of the most popular songs in the world and has titled it BY. HONGJOONG. So far he has also covered ‘Space Oddity’ by David Bowie, ‘Purple Rain’ by Prince, and ‘Black or White’ by Michael Jackson. He is also a member of the 8 person boy band ATEEZ, which is selling out concerts across the US and Europe.

K-Pop has recently been gaining more mainstream attention at a rapid pace. During a press conference last year, Queen told South Korean media that they’re big fans of global K-pop icons BTS, and discussed their thoughts on the genre.

“I’ve learned about K-pop in the UK,” Brian May told the publication. “We always welcome people who use their own ways to spread a new influence to this generation. I’m sure they [BTS] are going to continue to do great.”

Adam Lambert has also praised K-pop, saying: “K-pop’s visuals are amazing. The visuals are more than just something fun to see. It gives us inspiration. I’ve seen so many amazing visuals from BTS.”

BTS has actually teamed up with some of the biggest musicians in the world. They collaborated with Halsey and The Chainsmokers, as well as Steve Aoki and Zara Larsson. They also made history as the first K-pop act to be nominated for a Grammy. They were nominated under the ‘Best Pop/Duo Performance’ category and were suitably stoked about it as you can see in the below post.
