Our yee haw queen Kacey Musgraves made international headlines earlier this week after she bravely rejected a shoey at her Sydney show at the Enmore Theatre on Sunday night.
Midway through her set, Kacey Musgraves was met with the roaring demand that she skol a beverage out of a shoe. Of course, Musgraves did not take out Album Of The Year at the Grammy Awards so that she drink out of a festering vans sk8-hi. She promptly shut the crowd down with the eight most powerful words in the English language, “I’m not fucking drinking out of your shoe.”
Last night, Musgraves graced the stage of Palais Theatre in Melbourne for the final leg of her ‘Oh What A World’ Australian tour. It was at this show where she finally satiated Australia’s primal urge to watch musicians drink out of a shoe, but in the most Kacey Musgraves way possible.
“I guess maybe in Sydney I wasn’t really in the mood, but it’s our last show so…” she said before producing a literal glass slipper and downing a shot of tequila. An icon in the truest sense.
Thankfully, this moment has been immortalised forever. Musgraves took to Twitter to share evidence that the Cinderella shoey happened: “take that, ya savages” she wrote.
