It looks as though Kanye West presidential dreams are not completely dead. The music mogul has officially filed with the Federal Elections Commission.
As TMZ report, on Wednesday, Kanye West filed the first of paperwork required by the FEC, Form 1, Statement of Organization, confirming that the Kanye 2020 committee will serve as the “Principal Campaign Committee” with West as its candidate. The party is listed as BDY which stands for the Birthday Party.
Yesterday, it was reported that Kanye West had bowed out of the presidential race after missing the deadline to run in six states.
An Intelligencer report — which took information from multiple campaign professionals — alleged that Kanye had begun the process of having his name included on the ballot as a third-party candidate.
Kanye was reportedly spending time in Florida to get the required number of signatures to be added to the ballot. The ballot required Kanye to amass 132,781 signatures in less than a week to hit the July 15th deadline.
A member of West’s campaign team, Steve Kramer, reportedly told Intelligencer that the rapper will no longer contest the election.
“He’s out,” Kramer shared. Kramer didn’t delve into the specifics of Kanye withdrawing, but claims he would “let [Intelligencer] know what I know once I get all our stuff cancelled.”

Earlier this week, Black Eyed Peas producer will.i.am weighed in on West’s presidential bid, calling it “a dangerous thing to be playing with.”
In an interview with The Mirror, will.i.am cast doubt on West’s political goals, musing that you don’t need to run for office to help your community.
“It’s a dangerous thing to be playing with,” he shared “If you’re not serious, you don’t play with that, especially now.”
