Kanye West has reportedly provided 300,000 meals to vulnerable people that have had their lives uprooted amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As XXL reports, West has partnered up with US fast-food giant Chick-fil-A and has provided around 11,000 meals each day since March. The meals were distributed by nonprofit Christian organisation, Los Angeles’ Dream Centre.

“The Los Angeles Dream Center has transformed into the Grand Central Station of food distribution and other basic essentials,” Dream Center founder Matthew Barnett shared in a statement. “I’m so grateful that our team has stayed healthy, and that we’ve found a safe way to meet the urgent needs within our community.

“I can’t say thank you enough to the various donors who’ve made this a reality. This is what a neighbourhood, a community, and a church should always look like.”

Kanye West has been associated with Chick-fil-A since his name drop on 2019’s JESUS IS KING track ‘Closed on Sunday’. The reference was met with controversy, as the restaurant has sordid connections to anti-LGBT marriage groups.

The coronavirus crisis has seen the music world join forces to display solidarity and offer financial support where it is most needed. Earlier this week, the Lady Gaga curated spectacle One World: Together at Home raised $127 million for coronavirus relief.

Earlier today it was announced that a bunch of the biggest names in music are set to collaborate on a hopeful rendition of Foo Fighters anthem ‘Times Like These’. Amongst the ranks are Dua Lipa, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, 5 Seconds of Summer, Biffy Clyro, Sam Fender, Ellie Goulding, Royal Blood, Sigrid and more.
