After taking aim at triple j on his latest album and subsequently accusing the station of ignoring him, Australian emcee Kerser has had it out with triple j host and fellow rapper Hau Latukefu on social media.

As Tone Deaf reported yesterday, a brief snippet of the ABC news theme appears on Kerser’s new album, Taken Over the Scene, apparently intended as a middle finger in the direction of triple j.

“I feel like I have been ignored by that station and the industry and they are meant to be playing music which appeals to youth. But they just won’t play it and I can’t put my finger on why,” Kerser told News Corp.

“If they checked out my shows or social media, they would realise that a lot of youth are into Kerser. I personally don’t think I need them when I have got to where I am and they have ignored me for this long. I can put a clip on YouTube and get 300,000 views.”

However, Latukefu, who hosts triple j’s The Hip Hop Show, reckons Kerser isn’t giving everybody the full story, taking to Twitter to point out that he had the divisive emcee as a guest on his show.

“U only had me on that show coz u where spoken to by sum1 in my crew n u know it.u blacklisted me from day dot, ur loss LMFAO [sic],” Kerser wrote in response, to which Latukefu replied incredulously, “Are you for real?”

Latukefu went on to insist that, while he’s not a fan of his peer’s music, he respects his artistry, writing, “I’ve even told you face to face that your music may not connect with me, but I appreciate your hard work ethic.”

“Dont bluff bra, u no whats facts, i dont do this twitter shit.. dont talk to me [sic],” Kerser followed-up, to which Latukefu replied, “Ok, cool man. Well, you need to tell your PR that I’ve been talking to how you feel. See you out in the real world.”

Kerser then had the final word, writing, “Madd, see ya when I’m [sic] lookin at ya.” While the exchange was reasonably diplomatic, don’t be surprised if Latukefu gets a call-out on Kerser’s next album.
