So Kevin Parker’s memory can be a little bit unreliable. As we recently learnt, the Tame Impala frontman was forced to Google himself in order to recollect what he actually got up to after his Glastonbury performance.
“We got there on Friday afternoon and were there until Monday morning. I’m still paying the price,” he told Q Mag, via NME. “There’s a good 36 hours after we played that is unaccounted for. I suddenly came to and it was Monday morning.”
“Mark Ronson is sending me photos of me at various times and I’m slowly piecing together where I was and what I was doing. Part of my method is searching ‘#KevinParker’ on the internet and finding all the fan photos of me just like [makes popping sound].”
Despite this, he never has any trouble recalling Tame Impala’s lyrics. If you’re skeptical, you should know that Parker, who it should be noted actually wrote all of Tame Impala’s songs, recently aced NME‘s Tame Impala lyric quiz.
The quiz went up earlier this week and challenges fans, or in this case the actual artist, to complete Tame Impala’s lyrics. Naturally, Parker absolutely aced the quiz, nabbing a 10/10 score, despite the fact that NME actually got one of the lyrics wrong.
Apparently, NME (and Google Play Music) thought the line in ‘Let It Happen’ goes, “Something’s trying to get out / And it’s never been closer / If my ticker fails / Make up some other story“. But as Parker pointed out, it’s actually “If my take off fails“.
Still got 10/10, though.
