Eclectic Sydneysider Kid Mac has found huge success in 2012 with the release of his debut album No Man’s Land, with his Mickey Avalon-featuring lead single ‘She Goes Off’ becoming a YouTube hit, clocking up over 170,000 views with cameos featuring Snoop Dogg and Steve Aoki among others.
This year also saw Mac claiming the Artist Of The Year and Best Video categories at the Music Oz Awards held at Sydney Opera House.
Originally hailing from Sydney’s south, Kid Mac has carved a name for himself in the Australian music scene with lyrics that capture the experiences of today’s youth, super catchy sing along melodies, dance floor beats, and a fine-tuned live presence, Kid Mac is setting himself up to be one of Australia’s future influential figures.
Having spent much of the last few years honing his crafts across studios and stages, writing and working alongside Melbourne-based producers Twice As Nice, while collaborations with acts like Mat McHugh (The Beautiful Girls) on hugely popular track ‘Hear You Calling’ and the release of his single ‘Nobody Sleep Nobody Get Hurt’ alongside his feature film Fighting Fear have kept fans in close proximity to his unique scene.
Outside the studio, Mac has been hitting the touring circuit with his 3 piece band in tow – blowing up dance floors here and overseas including supports for US artist Mickey Avalon, Brazil’s Marcelo D2, The Beautiful Girls, Bliss N Eso, The Game and a personal request from RZA to join Wu Tang Clan’s Australian tour.
All this plus several of his own headline shows, appearances at Playground Weekender Festival and Ripe Festival.
Now Kid Mac will embark on another national tour commencing on December 28 at The Standard in Sydney and running through January in Australia to celebrate the release of second single ‘Lunatic’; recently released on Halloween has an 80s electronic vibe with a catchy hook coupled with witty raps, and has the a stand-out crowd favorite at shows over recent tours.
The song shows Kid Mac’s lighter side and is a collation of both personal and friends’ (guys & girls) ‘lunatic’ experiences with the obsessive side of the dating game. Mac shot the video in Bali and features extreme characters including Groupie Killer, Kill Mac, Crazy Bride and The Innocent Girl.
