Next week, it finally arrives: the latest King Gizz record. Well, it arrives on triple j at least, taking out the feature album spot as any reasonable person would expect. Admittedly they haven’t kept us waiting too long since their last release, considering the ARIA-award-winning Nonagon Infinity dropped just last year, but there’s a definite weight of expectation behind Flying Microtonal Banana considering the attention they’ve been getting overseas off the back of that last record.
Plenty of other great music to hear on the jays next week from other sources too, with the fantastic new Poison City Records signing Cable Ties earning full rotation with their new punk jam, as well as the latest track from The Smith Street Band, ‘Birthdays’.
Some great spot rotation going on too, with Sydney producer Moonbase (formerly Moonbase Commander) getting in with his Anderson .Paak-featuring banger ‘It Don’t Matter’, and Melbourne’s Oscar Key Sung returning with the slick electro-RnB of ‘Shallow’.
