A Kishi Bashi Australian Tour 2014 has been announced marking his long awaited debut appearance Down Under.

The musical alias for masterful singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist K Ishibashi, Kishi Bashi heads to Australia this July with two special headline performances presented by Chugg Entertainment.

This first appearance in Australia comes off the back of his latest album, Lighght (out now thru Inertia). Taking its title from the one-word poem by minimalist poet Aram Sorayan, Lighght (pronounced “Light”) continues and expands the sound of his critically acclaimed debut, 151a, which earned Kishi Bashi the title of “Best New Artist” for 2012 by NPR.

Since the profoundly successful release of 151a two years ago, Kishi Bashi has toured relentlessly, captivating audiences across the the globe with his loop-based live show, and fostering a groundswell of devotees with an ingenuity that defies the conventions of the classically trained violinist’s background.

Born in Seattle, Ishibashi went on to spend his formative years on the East Coast, where he honed his skills as a touring violinist for the likes of Sondre Lerche, Regina Spektor, and, later, Of Montreal.

After co-founding the Brooklyn-based indie pop outfit, Jupiter One, he then went on to start his solo career. Exploring a mélange of violin, beat-boxing and both English and Japanese vocals, Kishi Bashi is a one-man orchestra who blends a mess of ingredients into a symphony of loop-pedaled wonders.

Merging violin, electronics and stylistic influences from multiple cultures, Ishibashi creates something haunting, beautiful and maybe a little off-kilter through the technology of looping. These shows are not to be missed.
