With just days to go until their Australian tour was supposed to kick off, rock icons KISS have been forced to cancel their Australian tour due to illness.

Earlier this week, KISS revealed that they would be postponing the start of their Aussie tour after frontman Paul Stanley had fallen ill.

According to a statement by promoters, frontman Paul Stanley had found himself stricken down with a bad case of influenza, with doctors advising him to rest up for a few days and not make the long trip from Los Angeles to Perth.

“With the expectation of Australian audiences high, KISS don’t want to not give 100% and so have made changes to the Australian and New Zealand dates,” a statement explained.

With the band’s tour kick-off in Perth this Saturday night moved to the end of their tour on December 3rd, New Zealand fans were told that this reshuffling would mean that KISS would be cancelling their Auckland show.

Now, Aussies have joined in on our Kiwi neighbours’ disappointment, with KISS today being forced to cancel the entirety of their Aussie tour.

According to a statement issued by promoters One World Entertainment and TEG Live, the shows have cancelled due to an additional infection affecting Paul Stanley, requiring complete vocal rest and medication for at least the next two weeks.

“Words cannot begin to convey our massive disappointment in having to cancel our End Of The Road tour of your incredible country,” Paul Stanley explained in the statement. “Our connection to you is unparalleled and decades deep.

“We waited as long as we could and held out hope to the last minute that my situation would clear up and we would be able to march forward. Doctor’s orders ultimately have taken precedence and finally we now find ourselves with no choice but to surrender.”

“We are devastated with the cancellation of the Australian tour,” organisers continued. “We’ve been in constant contact with the band in the past few days hoping for a positive outcome.

“We know how much fans were looking forward to the tour.  We send our best wishes to Paul for a speedy recovery.”

Ticketholders to the upcoming dates will receive automatic refunds if purchased by credit card, while those who purchased from an agency by cash of EFTPOS will be contacted within the next 15 days to arrange for a full refund.

While we wait for rescheduled dates to be announced, we wish Paul Stanley a speedy recovery so that KISS can return to Australia as soon as possible for their final-ever run of shows.
