Klaxons are following in the footsteps of Gorillaz and giving fans a free release for Christmas. The band are making a free download of five tracks available to fans at www.klaxons.net on Christmas Day. Entitled Landmarks of Lunacy, the EP features material recorded in 2008 as part of the sessions for what would become their Surfing The Void album released earlier this year.
Recorded in Nantes, in France with Myths of the Near Future producer James Ford, these sessions were amongst those that apparently left their record company very unhappy, who sent them back in to the studio. However, the band says “There are periods of time that we have spent together as a band that the only suitable word that comes close to describing them is ‘magical’.
The three nocturnal weeks spent at Black Box studio in 2008 under the loving guidance of James Ford was undeniably the point where the magic was peaking.” Well, we’ll find out on Christmas Day!
The tracklisting for ‘Landmarks Of Lunacy’ is:
‘The Pale Blue Dot’
‘Silver Forest’
‘Ivy Leaves’
‘Wildeflowers’
‘Marble Fields’
