An all-star tribute took place over the weekend, with some of the biggest names in hard rock paying their musical respects to late musician Vinnie Paul.

Back in June, the music world was rocked when news broke that Vinnie Paul, the legendary drummer for Pantera and Hellyeah, had passed away at the age of 54. While many of Paul’s contemporaries expressed their condolences with heartfelt tributes, others – including Alice In Chains and Megadeth – paid tribute by way of live performances.

Now, another tribute has taken place in the US over the weekend.

On Saturday, the 2018 edition of California’s Aftershock festival kicked off California. Featuring some huge names on the bill, including System Of A Down, Deftones, Incubus, and At The Drive-In, the lineup was originally supposed to include Vinnie Paul’s Hellyeah as well.

Following his passing, Hellyeah’s appearance was modified to instead become a tribute to the late rocker, featuring some of the biggest names in music.

Taking place on Saturday afternoon, the tribute featured members of Korn, Deftones, Godsmack, Sevendust, GWAR, Kyng, Shinedown, and more performing a number of Pantera classics.

While members of GWAR performed tracks such as ‘A New Level’ and ‘Mouth Of War’, Korn’s Jonathan Davis teamed up with Sully Erna of Godsmack to deliver a powerful rendition of ‘Walk’.

Thankfully, fan-shot footage of these performances have made their way online, allowing us to relive the experience even if we weren’t able to make it over to California this weekend. Check those out below.

In related news, it’s not yet clear whether or not Hellyeah will continue to perform or release music in the wake of Vinnie Paul’s death.

While Blabbermouth noted that Paul had recorded the drum tracks for Hellyeah’s sixth studio album shortly before his death, it’s unknown whether or not these recordings will eventually be released at some point.
