2018 is shaping up to be quite a year for nu-metal pioneers Korn. Not only does this year mark the 25th anniversary of the band, but it also marks 20 years since the release of their seminal 1998 record Follow The Leader. Now, it appears that the group are back in the studio recording a brand new album to mark the occasion.

It’s been two years since Korn released their latest album, 2016’s The Serenity Of Suffering, but the group haven’t exactly been taking it easy in the meantime. Following their one-off trip to Australia earlier this year for the inaugural Download Festival, frontman Jonathon Davis released his long-awaited solo album as rumours of a Follow The Leader 20th anniversary tour also circulated.

Now, it appears the group are back in the studio, with drummer Ray Luzier revealing the news via an Instagram post.

Taking to the service yesterday, Luzier posted a photo of him at his drum set, captioned by the phrase “Great day of tracking at Rock Falcon Studios.”

Captions for the image also reveal that the picture was taken by Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer, while production duties appear to be overseen by Nick Raskulinecz, who not only owns Rock Falcon Studios, but also produced Korn’s most recent album.

In regards to new material though, Jonathon Davis opened up to Metal Hammer last month, explaining that “There’s been really good ideas, really cool grooves.”

“It really doesn’t start taking place until I get there and glue all the shit together with the arrangements and put my vocals on it,” he continued. “But they are working with different producers and we’re gonna do the record and we’ll see – I’m really excited for it. It doesn’t suck, I know that.”

While the group are yet to make an official statement in regards to when we might actually be hearing this new material, it looks like the wait for a new Korn album will be over before we know it.
