Sydney four-piece The Laurels have announced this morning that they’ve signed to indie label Rice Is Nice joining the likes of Richard In Your Mind and Seekae.

The band made the announcement of the signing this morning on their Facebook page, writing to fans, “You know the saying good things come to those who wait? Well, your things have arrived!! We’re real excited to let you know that we’ll be releasing our debut album ‘Plains’ through Rice Is Nice in a couple of months.”

The release of their debut album sometime in the second half of 2012 follows an extremely busy 12 months that has seen the band release their debut EP Mesozoic and tour with the likes of The Black Angels, Wooden Shjips, Swervedriver, Low, Tame Impala, Dead Meadow and A Place To Bury Strangers to name but a few.

Work on their debut has already begun, and the psychedelic shoegaze wunderkids have teamed up with none other than producer ex extraordinaire Liam Judson who has also worked with Cloud Control, and Belles Will Ring.

The band are also lnown for their mind-blowing live show, securing them spots at Boogie Fest, Sydney Festival and BIGSOUND, and singer/guitarist Luke O’Farrell and drummer Kate Wilson graced the stage of the Sydney Opera House earlier this year as part of Nick Zinner’s very special 41 Strings project.
