It’s not necessarily the first team-up that would come to mind, but considering that Liam recently performed with Coldplay after sending insults in their direction for years, and brother Noel described his recent U2 shows as some of the most fun he’s had in his life, it seems that the Gallagher brothers are softening in their views on other bands in their older years.
As it turns out, we almost nabbed a live collab between the Oasis singer and the Foo Fighters at Glastonbury last month, but as NME reports, Liam revealed to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe that he politely declined the offer from Dave Grohl backstage.
“He asked me to come on and do a song,” Gallagher said. “I said no, cos I need a bit of rehearsal. I know it’s cool and all that, but I need a rehearsal.”
To be fair to Liam, his microphone technique (and years of drugs and alcohol) left his voice a bit shredded in years past, and he’s taking a lot more care with it these days after countless vocal issues onstage.
It’s not that he has any issues with the band either, and is actually a bit of a fan of drummer Taylor Hawkins’ solo work.
“I tell you what I wanna do,” he says, “I wanna do ‘Range Rover Bitch’ that Taylor made. That’s the tune.”
We might get the chance to see something like that happen when Liam joins Foo Fighters at their own San Bernadino festival CalJam in October, with a lineup that also boasts Queens of the Stone Age and a host of other great rock acts – stay tuned for that collab after all.
