We’ve covered the relationship between Oasis’ Gallagher brothers so much now that it’s hard to imagine that there’s anything left to say. Of course, the ever-unpredictable Liam Gallagher has now opened up about a reunion of his old band, claiming he tried to reunite the original lineup without his brother.
Following the shocking revelation that Liam and Noel Gallagher were back to being enemies, Liam admitted that he had tried to recreate his old band as a four-piece, only to be turned down by the other members.
Following a fan’s innocent question, “If the old crew from Oasis first line up wanted to reform with just you would you??”, Gallagher responded by stating bluntly, “I did ask them and they weren’t up for it.”

Soon after, one of Liam’s old Oasis bandmates, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, decided to respond to Gallagher, indicating that there might be at least one former member keen on a reunion.

While it does seem as though the prospect of an Oasis reunion is once again outside of the realm of possibility, Liam Gallagher, who has just wrapped up an Aussie tour, recently spoke to triple j’s Liam Stapleton about his time following Oasis, and the Aussie artists he’s into these days.
“Beady Eye didn’t take off as much as I thought it would, but good to be back playing Oasis songs,” Gallgher explained. “We didn’t play a lot [of them] in Beady Eye, which I think was a mistake.”
“I was an original member of Oasis, Gem [Archer] and Andy [Bell] weren’t and no-one else in the band was,” he continued. I just think people weren’t coming to see Beady Eye as a new thing, they’d invested a lot in Oasis and therefore, they were coming through the doors to come and [see] someone who was in Oasis and hear some of those tunes so I think it was a bit of a mistake. But here we are, playing them now, so all good.”
Of course, it didn’t stop there, with Liam Gallagher going on to list some of his favourite Aussie bands, including one band that he might just be enjoying out of spite for his brother.
“My favourite band from Australia is You Am I, like the geezer Tim Rogers. He’s cool,” Gallagher admitted. “We played with them in Australia some time ago. There’s a song called ‘Junk’, which makes me want to punch things. So, I like that band.”
“DMA’s, they’re a new band but might be an old band down here, they played in England so had a couple of beers with them out there,” he continued. “There’s a band called Holy Holy that my girlfriend used to do some press for in England, went to one of their gigs and they were nice lads.”
While we’re not too sure if Liam Gallagher found any new favourite bands while in the country for Falls Festival, judging by his outspokenness, we’ll be hearing about them soon enough.
