Limp Bizkit front man Fred Durst has slammed rumours that it was his band pulling out of Soundwave Revolution that led to the events cancellation this week. Although he didn’t mention it in his official statement, promoter AJ Maddah later told commercial radio station Nova 969 that it was due to a headline act that was about to be announced pulling out at the last minute that led to him pulling the plug on the event.
Rumours have been swirling that Limp Bizkit were one of the new headliners to be announced, although Maddah won’t reveal which act pulled the pin. However, Limp Bizkit have responded to abuse and questions from disappointed Soundwave Revolution punters, denying that they were to blame.
Front man Durst took to his Twitter page to absolve his band of responsibility for the cancellation of the festival which has caused outrage amongst metal, hardcore and rock fans. He said “Hello my Australian people! Little FYI for you- we were never on the bill to play any festival down under. So, looks like VH cancels and we get thrown in the mix, classic.
All I can say is that we are very excited to rock OZ as soon as possible. I’ll drink to that!” Durst’s comments add fuel to the fire suggesting that it was headliners Van Halen cancelling rather than another unannounced band that led to the festival having the rug pulled from under it.
