It sure has been a long time since we last heard from La Roux and if you’d forgotten about the swoosh-haired redhead and her synthpop in the last half-decade, we can hardly blame you.

For all those that have been aching for a follow-up to La Roux’s self-titled debut album of 2009, good news has at last arrived, as the British duo announce their comeback with a new album, Trouble In Paradise, set for release on 7th July (via Cherrytree/Interscope), and that natty Miami Vice pop art below is the cover.

The first cut of the new nine-track set arrives in ‘Let Me Down Gently’, a synth-laden slice of pop that’s a much more sombre affair than previous radio-friendly hits ‘Quicksand’ and ‘Bulletproof’. Sprawling over nearly six minutes, the slow-burn front-end focuses on Elly Jackson’s forlorn singing before a midway break signals a shift to the dancefloor, with chugging electrobeats and a sax solo for good measure.
