Mikal Cronin may have initially recognised as the long-haired bass player for the prolific garage maniac that is Ty Segall, however since the release of his stellar solo records Mikal Cronin and MCII, the 29-year old has well and truly cemented himself just important as his guitar wielding counterpart, and his latest track ‘Made My Mind Up’ exemplifies this sentiment perfectly.

The track opens with a sunny riff that’s instantly accessible as Cronin’s cruisy vocals, which continually grow better, glide between the simple, poppy guitar progressions. Sonically, the tune ebbs and flows as in a typical Cronin rise-and-fall manner, with a meandering guitar solo and the inclusion of keys – Cronin has somewhat distanced himself with his previous raw garage aesthetic for a more ’90s alt-rock sound, and it works perfectly.
