You’ve no doubt heard the name ‘Banks’ being passed around the traps in the past 18 months. With a trio of excellent singles from her forthcoming debut, Goddess, dropping over that time and with rumours circulating more recently about a 2015 Laneway appearance Jillian Banks is fast becoming the name on everyone’s lips.
An artist less known, but just as qualified for the hype is one of the faces behind production duties of her debut in Lil Silva. The 24-year old bedroom producer and R&B singer worked on no less than three songs on Goddess.
His recently released EP, Mabel, features this funky slow-jam of a gem alongside another duet with Banks, entitled ‘Right For You’. While Banks’ role in the song doesn’t fully become apparent until brooding synth waves awash a minimalist production her soulful vocals form an intimate marriage with Lil Silva’s own exquisite tones.
‘Don’t You Love’ begs to be played on a decent pair of headphones. Strap yourselves in, these two rising artists are ones to watch.
