Towards the end of the ’80s, Paul McCartney and Elvis Costello enjoyed a run of fruitful writing sessions together, co-writing a number of songs which featured on McCartney’s 1989 album, Flowers In The Dirt, as well as Costello’s hit single ‘Veronica’, released the same year.
Now, McCartney has shared an unreleased song from those sessions, the shuffling ‘Twenty Fine Fingers’, which features him and Costello in tight harmony throughout.
The song isn’t that groundbreaking; in truth it’s not world’s apart from what fellow Beatle George Harrison was doing with the Wilburys around the same time, but it showcases the pair’s pop smarts nicely.
The song is one of nine unreleased McCartney/Costello recordings that will feature on a forthcoming reissue of Flowers In The Dirt, due March 24. Listen below.
