If you’ve been hanging out for Lorde’s third album, the artist has some good news for you – taking to social media to let fans know its “in the oven”.

On Sunday, we marked the two-year anniversary of Lorde’s second album, Melodrama. Coming almost four years after her Pure Heroine debut, anticipations were high for this record, but Lorde wasn’t one to disappoint.

As it turned out, Melodrama performed better on the charts than her debut, leading to sold-out world tours, hit singles at every turn, and recognition as one of the finest pop artists around today.

Back in November though, the Kiwi singer let her fans know that she is still thinking of new music, explaining that new sounds would be included.

“I haven’t started properly on the next record yet, and I’m not sure how long it’ll be,” she wrote in an email to fans. “But I’ve been teaching myself how to play piano, and here and there little bits come out.”

“I think this next one will probably be born around the piano in my house, me and my friends, keeping it simple… But know that for now I’m happy here at home, living quietly and simply, eating toast, going for walks, swimming. And you’ll hear all about it soon enough.”

Now, we’ve received another positive update.

Taking to her Instagram stories on Sunday, Lorde paid tribute to her second record on its second anniversary, thanking fans for their support and promising new music is on the way.

“Want to say thankyou for how you took that record and made it your own,” Lorde began. “Swells my damn heart thinking about your love for it and your willingness to go there with me and to dance the way we did together.

“The day it came out I did a jigsaw puzzle all day in my hotel room in NY. I felt so emptied, I didn’t really know yet that you make a record and get filled up, and then releasing it empties you.. and slowly fills you up again. I was such a baby making that work, lots of emotions and learning so much all the time.

“Feels like I’ve grown a lot since then, I’ve been to Antarctica, I have a dog now and a cat and i can bake bread and cook dinner and keep plants alive etc. It’s a good life you’ve given me,” she concluded, “Third one in the oven.”

While it’s been well over a year since we last received new music from Lorde, it appears as though the future is bright for her fans, with new music set to satiate us sooner rather than later!
