Luca Brasi have slammed audience members at their recent Sydney show, calling out “ropehead fucks” for their “unwelcome” behaviour.

Tasmania’s punk-rock legends Luca Brasi are currently out on the road, bringing their latest album, Stay, to eager crowds around the country. However, it seems that some of group’s fans might be a little too eager, with the group calling out certain audience members at their recent gig.

On Saturday evening, Luca Brasi hit up Sydney’s Manning Bar to wrap up the first half of their tour. While the vast majority of the audience acted in a respectful way, a small selection of fans chose to conduct themselves in a rather inappropriate manner.

Taking to Instagram last night, Luca Brasi shared a statement in regards to the behaviour seen at their recent show.

“Firstly, this tour so far has been fantastic,” the post began. “It’s been a total pleasure to share our new album with all of you legends! However, there were certain members of the audience in Sydney whose behaviour made people feel unwelcome and unsafe, so much so that they decided to leave our show early.”

“Dancing around and singing along always makes for awesome vibes. Shoving people and knocking them to the ground DOES NOT,” they continued. “We’ve been through shit too many times and it’s not why we want to play shows. Consideration for how you occupy space at shows, and showing respect for your audience mates, will always make for a better experience for everyone.”

“Failure to do so will see you removed from the show. Look out for each other, make sure we’re all having a good time, and report this type of stuff straight away.”

“And if you Ropehead fucks kook it one more time I’m going to shove my Les Paul so far up your ass that Gibson will try and turn your Adam’s apple into robot tuners.”

When interviewed earlier this month about their upcoming tour, Luca Brasi drummer Danny Flood explained that one of the most important things about the group’s shows is that they provide a safe space for their audience.

“The crowd of people watching us has evolved and changed over the years. I don’t think we do anything different than what we used to,” he explained. “We just go and play the songs and hope we don’t make mistakes and make everyone feel inclusive and off enjoying themselves as well.”

“If they can take one thing away from our shows that you can go and have a good time but you’re going to be safe, you can enjoy your time and enjoy your space.”

“When Luca started out or even when I was first joining, it was just thinking about mates and loose individuals and now obviously being a little bit more mainstream and radio play, as you said, different groups of people come in to watch and that sort of thing.”

Luca Brasi are set to hit up Perth tomorrow night, before performing in Adelaide and Melbourne at the end of the week. Here’s hoping that any prospective bad eggs in the audience decide to behave themselves.
