Grab your popcorn kids, M.I.A. has hit back again at New York Times journalist Lynn Hirschberg over the profile she wrote on the ‘Born Free’ star which has got her hopping mad. On Thursday night she hit out at Hirschberg on Twitter, saying “CALL ME IF YOU WANNA TALK TO ME ABOUT THE N Y T TRUTH ISSUE, ill b taking calls all day bitches ;)”, . The tweet was accompanied by Hirschberg’s number giving her a full voicemail box in no time.

Hirschberg hit back at MIA calling her a provocateur, which has led M.I.A. to post a new track on her Neet Recordings website under the title War Crimes and French Fries in which she has also posted audio clips of her interview with Hirschberg in which she tries to demonstrate her comments were taken out of context. The track ‘Haters’ begins “So you wanna hear about my politics / Yeah, I could show you things that could make you sick” and then rambles on to have a go at America, the army, racists, and, of course, journalists.

Hirschberg has form for pissing people off like this. She infamously wrote a profile on Courtney Love in 1992 in which she quoted Love as saying she’d gone on a heroin binge while she was pregnant with daughter Frances Bean. That article displeased the Queen of Grunge so much she left messages on Hirschberg’s machine calling her a c**t, and then released a ‘bootleg’ song called ‘Bring Me the Head of Lynn Hirschberg’. She topped that off by trying to bash Hirschberg around the head with Quentin Tarantino’s Academy Award at a 1995 Oscar party. Top that M.I.A.!
