What’s more embarrassing than drunkenly falling into a gorge? Drunkenly falling into a gorge because you were attempting to sneak into a Nickelback concert.
Some people perform some pretty questionable things in the name of fandom, but the latest adventure committed in the name of the Black Keys-hatin rock stars is particularly humorous.
The Huffington Post reports that 22-year-old fan Kevin Beaudette was attempting to slip into a Nickelback concert held at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center – located near the Geyser Brook Gorge – to see the Canadian rock stars perform but instead, he suffered from a 40 foot (approx. 12 meters) drop after losing his footing and slipping into the gorge.
Marcia White, president of the Performing Arts Center where Chad Kroeger and co. were rocking out, issued a statement reading, “an individual who appeared to be intoxicated, and who was outside the venue, apparently lost his footing and slipped down the embankment that runs along SPAC’s Route 50 parking lot.”
The local fire department were called in to rescue Beaudette from the embankment, and despite being rushed to the hospital by Saratoga Springs firefighters, did not suffer injuries from the fall – treated only for minor cuts and bruises before being released.
Though he wasn’t physically harmed, you can bet his pride is going sting somewhat now that everyone knows him as ‘that Nickeback guy.’
Australian fans looking to sneak into any of the shows of Nickelback’s tour later this year take heed… You might not want to pay for the privilege of being numbed by one of the world’s most successful rock acts. But consider if you want to be made part of a mocking music headline before you attempt to break in to your local arena of choice – or at the very least, be on the lookout for any sheer drops.
