So, now its official. NICKELBACK are heading to Australia… and people are already taking sides.
As tall-poppy syndrome breaks out in patches all over Australia, the band people love to hate have announced an Australian tour for the tail-end of 2012.
One of the biggest rock bands in the world and statistically one of the most popular, the Canadian rock band are bringing their live show to Australia for the first time in three years.
Currently making a fifty-four city trek throughout North America, Nickelback will head down under for a national tour starting in Perth on November 17, with stops in Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney before winding up in Melbourne on November 27. They will be performing hits and chart-topping singles drawing from their seven-album arsenal, regardless if you like it or not.
Joining them on tour will be Jackson Firebird, fresh off the back of their own national tour to launch debut album Cock Rockin’ ; the Mildura garage rockers will be joining Nickelback for their five-date national tour. Known for their brutally energetic live sets, Jackson Firebird (Dale Hudak and Brendan Harvey) have earned their touring stripes alongside You Am I, King Cannons, Snowdroppers, Little Birdy and the Fumes. Rugged, explosive, full-tilt, no frills, nothing fancy: just straight up, 12 bar lovin’ rock and roll.
With nearly 50 million album sales to their name since their 2001 breakthrough, ‘How You Remind Me’, they’ve gone on to become one of the most enduring, and yet most hated bands of our generation. Bottom line, if you don’t like them, don’t buy a ticket.
But if you do, then this is your first chance to catch them since they toured in Australia in 2009 for the Dark Horse Tour, when Billboard Magazine hailed them ‘Top Group of the Decade’.
