Mandy Moore has been far more prolific in the TV and film world than she has been in music over the last decade, but a lot of us, we can still remember our first introduction to the US singer in ‘Candy’.

Of course, Moore evolved from the teenage pop star who toured with N*SYNC at the height of their mania into a singer-songwriter with decent cred, releasing music consistently through the 2000s until 2009, when she dropped Amanda Leigh.

Today however, Moore’s kicked off a new week and new chapter of her musical career with a brand new single in ‘When I Wasn’t Watching’. Her first release in a decade is a result of studio sessions that took place last year.

Working with Jason Boesel and Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes (Goldsmith is also Moore’s husband) on the writing of ‘When I Wasn’t Watching’, Moore is contemplative on the new track.

Moore’s acting career took the driver’s seat following the release of Amanda Leigh, with the actress appearing in a variety of projects from 2010’s Tangled to Grey’s Anatomy and more notably, This Is Us, where she has been playing a lead role since 2016.

This year, she opened up about her marriage to Ryan Adams as her ex-husband and musical collaborator faced an onslaught of sexual assault allegations.

Back in June, she shared photos from the studio, where she was working with Goldsmith, Boesel and Mike Viola, who has produced for Jenny Lewis and Fall Out Boy.
