If you’re a fan of Marilyn Manson, the chances are pretty good that you’ve spent the last couple of years wondering when the infamous shock-rocker was going to deliver a new album. Now, the new record has been announced, with a brand new single for eager fans as well.
As Pitchfork reports, Marilyn Manson has today announced that his tenth studio record, Heaven Upside Down, is due to be released this October.
His first record since 2015’s The Pale Emperor, Heaven Upside Down has been described by Manson as being “by far the most thematic and over-complicated thing that I’ve done.” Manson has also said that the lyrics are some of his most politically-charged yet. Coming from a man who seemed to attack almost every facet of American politics back when he released Holy Wood in 2000, that’s quite a statement.
In anticipation of the new record, Manson has also released the album’s lead single, ‘We Know Where You Fucking Live’. Stylistically close to Manson’s Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals, it’s a return to form for the legendary musician.
Of course, Marilyn Manson fans have been expecting this new album for quite some time. See, almost exactly one year ago, Manson announced that his new record, then called SAY10, was due for release on Valentine’s Day. Y’know, seven months ago. Then, back in March, Manson teased something on Instagram which indicated the new record was due to be released in June; another broken promise.
Back in November, Manson shared a clip which previewed the track, ‘Say10’, which is set to be included on his new record. Some online sources have also claimed that Marilyn Manson is set to release the second single from the record, titled ‘Kill4Me’, on September 20th, but we’ll have to wait and see how that pans out.
Heaven Upside Down is scheduled for release on October 6th. In the meantime, have a listen to the record’s first single, ‘We Know Where You Fucking Live’.
