Mark Kozelek of Sun Kil Moon has teamed up with Petra Haden to deliver a gorgeous cover of Huey Lewis & The News’ ‘The Power Of Love’.

Ask anybody, and they’ll likely tell you that Huey Lewis & The News’ ‘The Power Of Love’ reminds them of the opening scenes of Back To The Future, the 1985 blockbuster which saw the song nominated for an Academy Award.

However, most people will likely not invoke images of emotive vocals, tenderly plucked strings, and haunting melodies.

That’s where Mark Kozelek and Petra Haden come in, delivering a mesmerising cover of the classic for their upcoming album.

The track is the first taste from the record Joey Always Smiled, which sees Mark Kozelek and Petra Haden teaming up with the likes of Ben Boye and Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley to create what is shaping up to be another stunning record.

Serving as Kozelek’s third album in just over a year, Joey Always Smiled follows on from Sun Kil Moon’s  Also Want To Die In New Orleans, which was released back in March.

This new song also comes just two weeks before the start of Sun Kil Moon’s Australian tour, where Kozelek will be performing two-and-a-half hour sets at venues across Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland.
