We’ve already seen many bands and music venues making creative use of crowdfunding campaigns to great success (re: Melbourne’s Ne Obliviscaris and Cherry Bar) and now we can add an Aussie music festival to that list.
Billed as “Australia’s newest boutique music festival”, Marmalade Skies, is crowdfunding its way into existence, offering a variety of ticketing options and sponsorship opportunities through a newly-launched Pozible campaign for its inaugural launch, set for 12th to 14th December on “an incredibly beautiful property” just outside Goulburn NSW.
Described as a “three day, (part) BYO, camping music festival that brings the best of young Australian music, country house party vibes and the downright ridiculous to the mix,” Marmalade Skies organisers are selling a limited set of first release tickets priced at $105 through the Pozible site until 16th September (or until all gone), along with camping tickets at $155 and VIP passes for $305.
Festival organisers haven’t even announced the lineup yet, but keen festival-goers have already been flocking to the crowdfunding initiative, as The Music reports.

The festival has already reached $11,000 of its intended $15,000 target (at the time of publication) with 14 days left before the campaign closes. As yet, no-one has taken up the five available $1,000 ‘Minor Sponsor’ or single $5,000 ‘Major Sponsor’ pledge. However, two keen patrons have purchased the $505 Foundation Member ticket – giving them a VIP upgrade for the inaugural festival for their pledge and then “invited to every Marmalade Skies Festival for life.”
The Pozible success also means a hefty donation is going towards the Rural Fire Service, with Marmalade Skies giving $5 from every ticket sold. Other details regarding the event are still developing, but The Beatles-referencing description on the campaign page paints an evocative picture of the Goulburn-based boutique festival.
