Fest300 is an online poll of the world’s best festival events – 300 in number and compiled from the editors’ own experiences and fans voting from around the globe. The site recently unveiled their list for 2016 and wouldn’t you know it, it features 16 Aussies.

The Fest300 list isn’t music festival-exclusive, it includes all kinds of events and gatherings, including Montreal’s famous Just For Laughs Comedy Festival and homegrown staples like the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras and the Melbourne Cup Carnival, both of which made this year’s list.

“Our readership tends to skew towards music festivals – and particularly independent, immersive events – we definitely saw an increase of these on the 2016 List,” Fest300 writes. Naturally, stalwarts like Glastonbury and Austin City Limits made the cut.

Looking over at Australia and Oceania, Byron Bay Bluesfest got a very worthy mention, as well as Splendour in the Grass, Stereosonic, Rainbow Serpent Festival, and Strawberry Fields, though the majority of the list was comprised of cultural and arts events.
