Hip hop party starter and Aussie favourite, Mickey Avalon is planning a return to his adopted this year to play songs from his brand new EP I Get Even, along with his selection of fan favourites with support from a killer list of local bands.
Embracing excess and sexual energy like few others, Mickey Avalon’s tunes are filled with a glorious mix of decadence and hedonism and the rapper’s live show have generated excitable word-of-mouth, like the best rock and roll parties they’re an orgy of sweaty crowds, drunken debauchery and good times with Avalon as the evening’s ringmaster.
Avalon’s vist to Australia last year proved as much, with our Tone Deaf reviewer remarking of his Melbourne performance at The Espy, “The show had lived up to the rumours – Mickey Avalon was perverse.” Adding that dancers, “now adorned with ‘Mickey Avalon/Fuck Me/Fuck Me’-tops were dowsing the audience, beer was being spilled everywhere; and all the while Avalon strutted across the stage, missing no lines, emboldened by the screams of hundreds of fervent female fans.”
The news of his impending Australian tour comes alongside the news of the release of another slice of Mickey Avalon’s rock hop storytelling, in the brand new EP I Get Even, released digitally on 6th August via Avalon’s own Rag Top Records label. Featuring five previously unreleased tracks, I Get Even captures the Mickey Avalon live show in all its sweaty glory, mixing raw, honest rhymes and intensity against his trademark sound.
“My new EP is some of the best work I’ve ever done,” says Avalon. “We’re about to shoot a video for the song ‘Hollywood’ with a sick director, who came up with an amazing treatment for the visuals.” Additionally the new single will be available as a free download to fans who purchase tickets to Mickey Avalon’s upcoming Aus visit.
“It’s nice being home and recording, but I’m definitely ready to hit the road again. I hope everyone digs the tunes because there will be more coming very soon,” says Mickey. “Keep on rocking in the free world, and Avalonians unite!”
