Indie rockers Middle Kids have announced their new album Today We’re The Greatest, slated for a March release.
Indie rock outfit Middle Kids have announced a brand new album, Today We’re The Greatest. The news comes a day after the band released their latest single, ‘Questions’. The band has also announced tour dates around Australia for May 2021.
Okay, let’s unpack. First off, Today We’re The Greatest arrives on Friday, March 19th. The album follows their 2019 EP New Songs For Old Problems, which made the band a staple after their breakout debut with Lost Friends.
For this one, singer-songwriter Hannah Joy was inspired by her own life experiences, as she details in a statement. Across 12 songs, the album takes a more direct and open approach.
“I want to make music that loves its listener. Music that makes people feel seen, seen in the tiny little places that hide away in their hearts.” the statement reads. “I want people to hear our music, and feel a sense of love. And when I say love, it can be challenging, intense, and tough. But it’s in the guts.”
‘Questions’, thus, is the perfect introduction to the ethos Middle Kids are creating. In the accompanying music video, the band performs live in a restaurant as their beats literally bring people to move and sway.
The band is also taking this album on the road, starting with three shows (so far) across Australia in May. The tour kicks off on May 13th in Brisbane.
