One of Sydney’s most talked about acts at the moment, Middle Kids have just given the world something to talk about too, having just made their US TV debut on Conan.

The trio played their new single ‘Edge Of Town’, plucked from their self-titled debut EP, which is set for a very timely release tomorrow.

As Hannah and Tim recently told triple j, the Conan gig came about from the band’s appearance at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND music conference: “We played there and the booker from the Conan O’Brien show [Jim Pitt] was there – he was just digging the show.”

It just goes to show that not everyone at these industry conferences is just sinking beers and gossiping, which bodes well for the band as they head towards their showcases at massive US conference SXSW shortly. They’ll also be playing a huge string of dates including a run of support shows with Cold War Kids, so they’ll have plenty more chances to impress as they look to make a big overseas push.

The band aren’t wasting any time in putting their debut album together, telling triple j’s Veronica and Lewis that it’s already in the works: “We’re recording demos for our album; we’re going to record in the next couple of months.”

They may have just picked up an extra sale or two of the back of this one.

Editor’s note: This footage has now been taken down, so we’ve substituted their recent Jimmy Kimmel performance below.
