If you were apprehensive about Linkin Park seeking a new vocalist to replace Chester Bennington, you can rest easy, with Mike Shinoda now clarifying his earlier comments.
Just last week, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda opened up about the possibility of the group finding a new vocalist to replace late frontman Chester Bennington.
“I think it has to happen naturally,” Shinoda explained in an interview with Rock Antenne. “And if we find somebody that’s a great person that we think is a good personality fit and a good stylistic fit, then I could see trying to do some stuff with somebody.”
“Not for the sake of replacing… I wouldn’t wanna ever feel like we were replacing Chester.”
However, fans soon jumped on this piece of news, taking it to mean that Linkin Park were currently on the hunt for a new singer to join their ranks. Now, Shinoda has taken to Twitter to set the record straight in regards to the matter.
“Lemme clarify a rumor: we are not looking for a new singer, and if it were to happen organically, I’d be open,” Shinoda began. “Seems pretty clear, yet I guess some folks have a hard time understanding.”
“I’m not predicting the future. The future will happen,” he concluded. “Stop making shit up.”

While Mike Shinoda has clarified that the band aren’t looking for a new vocalist, the recent interview saw him note that the band aren’t quite ready to begin making music again just yet.
“We all thrive making and performing music, and so to not do that, I think, is hard,” Shinoda explained. “It definitely would be hard for me.”
“I didn’t wanna spend the last year not doing it, and I knew that the band was not ready to do it, so I wanted to go do it myself.”
“I know the other guys, they love to get onstage, they love to be in the studio, and so to not do that would be — I don’t know — almost unhealthy. If doing that means that we need to have some other people in the mix in order to do it and do it well, then we would do that.”
In related news, it was recently revealed that Chester Bennington’s son had teamed up with his father’s old band, Grey Daze, to update Chester’s vocals for a new project.
