Miley Cyrus and the Kid Laroi performed the hit single on SNL, which hit over 401 million streams on Spotify. Elon Musk also hosted.

It’s been a hectic week as we anticipated just what an SNL show with Miley Cyrus, the Kid Laroi and Elon Musk would look like. If a tech billionaire can perform a comedic monologue, then strap us in on the next Space X rocket cause we’re in for a ride of sorts.

Miley Cyrus posted the photo of the cast to Twitter on May 8, captioning it with ‘Holy Trinity’ (sic).

The bandana does it for me. Waiting for that album drop, guys.

Musk began his monologue by opening with “It’s an honour to host Saturday Night Live, I mean that. Sometimes, after I say something, I have to say, I mean that, so people really know that I mean it. That’s because I don’t always have any intonation or variation in the way I speak, which I’m told makes for great comedy.”

If self-awareness is comedy, then sure, I’m on board, please continue. Musk’s persona is sometimes hard to read, but as he joked, “I reinvented electric cars and I’m sending people to Mars on a rocket ship,” Musk said. “Did you think I was going to be a chill, normal dude?”

He also admitted publicly that he has Asperger’s syndrome, claiming that he was the first with the condition to appear on the show. Not quite.

Dan Akroyd, who appeared on the show, told the Daily Mail  in 2014 that he had the condition.

But back onto the main call card, which was the cover of the Kid Laroi’s hit single, which he recently remixed with Miley Cyrus. It’s the first time they’ve performed the song together live and Laroi’s first time on SNL, so it’s a special moment.

Cyrus sported a spikey front fringe ponytail and fluffy blue shawl, kicking off with the first verse.

The Kid Laroi aka Charlton Howard let his wavy hair grow long at the side while he performed a more mellow, stripped back version of the song. He belted the rest of the song while both singers harmonised splendidly at the chorus.

Of course, there was also references to Doge coin on the night, a gift Elon got his mother Faye who was in the audience while Cyrus posted a GIF that sums up what we all hear when Musk explains what it actually is.

As for Musk’s son’s name? “X Æ A-12 is “pronounced ‘cat running across keyboard.’”

Got it.
