A Missy Higgins Australian Tour 2014 has been announced with the ARIA-winning singer-songwriter embarking on an extensive national trek in support of her new project, OZ.
OZ is not only Missy Higgins’ fourth studio album, a collection of iconic Australian songs from the nation’s historic talent, it’s also the title of a new book of essays and Missy Higgins forthcoming tour. All in all, it’s “Australian stories for the ears, the eyes, the head and the heart.”
Set to be Missy Higgins’ only shows for the next 12 months, these September and October dates will see the ARIA-winning artist combining her OZ covers alongside her own popular songbook of hits.

The Missy Higgins Australian Tour 2014 will commence in Cairns, the day after the OZ book and album releases, and will feature two special guests. The first is acclaimed young singer-songwriter Dustin Tebbutt, whose evocative songs “The Breach” and “Bones” have made him one of triple j’s most played new Australian artists. Also appearing on most dates will be Jherek Bischoff, who co-produced OZ and has worked with the likes of Taking Heads’ David Byrne and Amanda Palmer.
OZ – the album and the book – will be released on 19th September, both as separate physical releases as well as together in a special deluxe cloth-bound deluxe bundle.
Explaining the OZ project Missy said, “I wanted to put together a group of wonderful Australian songs just as a different sort of challenge. I wanted to avoid all the obvious ones though because ‘Great Aussie Songbook’ collections have kinda been done to death. All that mattered was whether I felt I could make the songs my own so the tracklisting ended up as a real mixed bag of lollies.”
Tickets for the OZ tour will go on sale from 14th August at 10am.
