Aussie indie lovers need not sweat because Brissy rock charmers, Art Of Sleeping are gearing up to release their new album titled Shake Shiver (out via Dew Process/ Universal Music Australia) this July 17th.
As the title concedes, Shake Shiver is an album of juxtapositions, from hushed folk to raw rock n’ roll; there are few corners the arrangements don’t explore. Created in the midst of a humid, Queensland summer, the album took shape at Airlock Studios and was mixed by Swedish maestro Lasse Marten (Lykke Li, Sarah Blasko, Franz Ferdinand, Peter, Bjorn and John).
Ahead of the album release, the killer five piece released the insanely delightful single ‘Voodoo’ and to celebrate they’re about to head on a national tour kicking off this week. The 10 date tour kicks off in Australia’s capital ACT while wrapping up at the anticipated Splendour in the Grass. We caught up with the guys ahead of the tour and asked them to give us some insight into what they listen to on tour by creating their ultimate tour mixtape. Check it out below and be sure to catch the guys when they roll into your town.
Bombay Bicycle Club – ‘Home By Now’
These guys always get a few spins in the tour van. To keep things current, this is my pick of their latest album, “So Long, See You Tomorrow”.
Flight Facilities – ‘Why Do You Feel’ (feat. Bishop Nehru)
Perfect vibes. Great to hear these guys branching into these waters.
Loyle Carner – ‘October’ (feat. Kiko Bun)
While were talking about hip hop, check this tune out. I stumbled across this guy on soundcloud last week. This is my pick of his EP, but the whole thing is worth a listen.
Jai Paul – ‘Jasmine’ (demo)
If you only check out one of the artists in this list, let it be this guy. His music is extremely hard to find online – or anywhere really. If you can get your hands on his “unreleased/leaked” album, cover it in glad wrap and keep it with your Charizard Pokemon card. His story is here.
Tame Impala – ‘Eventually’
These guys are a class act. Were all loving their latest releases, and this track is no exception.
War On Drugs – ‘Red Eyes’
A perfect song from a perfect album.
Volcano Choir – ‘Dancepack’
No list is complete without a little Justin Vernon. This is what we put on when we don’t know what to put on.
Vallis Apls – ‘Young’
This track is full of tasty production, unsuspecting hooks and emotive moments.
Shlohmo – ‘Places’
I want to cover my body in this track and just live there forever.
Mac De Marco – ‘Chamber Of Reflection’
Caleb text me to make sure this makes the list. I think he was right to do so.
Barry White – I Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love’
This is our ‘arrive at the venue’ track. It always gets a few laughs, usually just from us.
